Quality Certification Recently Awarded to Romo Durable Graphics

ISO Certification, quality management, and Kaizen events are just a few aspects of continuous quality improvements. Each industry has their own specification to meet but can you imagine meeting your own industry specifications and that of your customer? 

Two years ago, Romo was up for the task! We were selected by Yamaha Motor Company to participate in their Quality REVS Certification. REVS = Reaching Excellence through Value-driven Suppliers

What is “REVS”?

REVS quality program has been an “apple in Yamaha’s eye” since 2014. They wanted to share their quality knowledge with suppliers to improve their capabilities – eventually impacting on-time delivery and better quality parts. 

It was introduced during a 2016 Supplier Conference and offered to ONLY 25 select suppliers. To date, seven of the 25 have attempted certification and five have succeeded. Romo Durable Graphics is 1 of the 5.

How was it accomplished? 

Beginning in 2015, a series of kaizen events were executed with the goal of identifying weaknesses and wastes at Romo. Each event focused on a different area of the production process from order entry, artwork set up, and press time quality inspection and shipping. After four intense phases, the value-engineering audit was passed.

With continual improvement and lower quality rejections, the REVS certification was awarded to Romo Durable Graphics last month.

Not only has this quality-improvement process improved the quality and value of Yamaha parts – but it has also impacted the quality of ALL products flowing through our plant. It was a good learning experience to see production from outside our comfort zone. Always willing to change and improve.
